Swift Verruca Treatment

What is Swift verruca treatment?

Swift is an innovative treatment for the removal of verrucas and other skin lesions, using microwave technology for a precise and accurate result. It uses a specially designed probe to deliver microwave energy to the affected area on your foot in a highly controlled way, treating the verruca without damaging the surface of your skin or other areas of tissue.

Swift is increasingly popular due to the fast, safe and very effective nature of the treatment. It takes just seconds for the probe to work, and it will feel no more uncomfortable than an injection or sharp scratch. No anaesthetic or downtime is required.

Foot with multiple verrucas

Who can benefit from Swift?

If you’re struggling with persistent verrucas, Swift offers a highly effective solution. Even if you have multiple verrucas on one or both feet, you can often target just the largest one.

When Swift effectively treats a verruca, it triggers a response that can help clear the viral infection throughout your feet. This means that even untreated verrucas may disappear as a result of the treatment.

Swift is an effective treatment option for most people suffering from persistent verrucas or warts. However, it’s important to note that there are certain circumstances where Swift may not be suitable.

Contraindications and precautions:

  • Pacemakers
  • Poor peripheral circulation
  • Neuropathy (loss of sensation in the feet)
  • Suppressed immune system
  • Low pain threshold
  • Poor healing capacity
  • Metal pins or replacement joints below the knee
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding

How does Swift verruca treatment work?

    Consultation and planning

We begin with an initial assessment, talking you through the treatment in detail and making sure you are suitable for Swift treatment. We explain how the microwave energy works to remove your verruca and give you an idea of how many treatments you may need for the best results.

  • Fast and safe treatment

We use a special probe to deliver a highly controlled dose of microwave energy to the affected area. It travels to a pre-determined depth for maximum efficiency, with no breaking of the skin or unnecessary damage to other skin tissues. All infected tissue is destroyed, and your body will begin the process of absorbing and replacing this.

    Predictable results

Your treatment takes place in a simple short appointment and you should begin to see improvement in the appearance of your verruca in a few weeks. We give you some tailored post-treatment advice and you are able to return to your normal daily activities as soon as you leave our clinic. If you need more than one treatment for best results, we book this for you at the appropriate interval.

Frequently asked questions

During your Swift verruca treatment, you will likely feel a sharp scratch, a bit like an injection or needle prick, as the probe delivers the microwave energy to your skin. This is over in seconds, and any residual pain subsides very quickly. The affected area on your foot may feel sore after treatment, but you will still be able to walk and carry out your normal daily activities.

The number of Swift verruca treatments you need varies depending on the initial condition and size of your verruca and how well you respond to the treatment. You may require more than one treatment, which will be spaced 2-4 weeks apart. We will be able to let you know if a course of Swift treatments is necessary once your verruca has been assessed.

Most people with verrucas or other skin lesions are suitable for Swift treatment. We always make sure we see you for an initial assessment to ensure you are able to have the treatment and it will give you the results you are after. Swift is not recommended for use on diabetic patients or those with implanted electronic devices fitted.

Immediately after treatment, your verruca will look the same as it did beforehand. It will take a few days to weeks for you to notice a change in your verruca, as your body begins absorbing and replacing the infected tissue. Over a few weeks, you will notice more changes until the appearance of your verruca is greatly improved and it eventually goes.
