What does a Footscan involve at Podiatry Station?

  • Step 1: Measurement

We discuss the Footscan process with you before beginning your detailed assessment. We ask you to stand in a variety of positions to capture your standing posture, balance, and gait for both your left and right feet. The scan is fast and comfortable.

  • Step 2: Analysis

Using state-of-the-art software, we expertly observe how your feet function during your natural gait, looking for any abnormalities or asymmetries. The data is available quickly and it is easy to repeat your Footscan if needed. We can then suggest the most suitable treatment for you moving forwards.

Frequently asked questions

We use Footscan to give us a comprehensive understanding of the way you stand, walk and move, and how this relates to any pain you may be experiencing in your feet or lower half of your body. We are then able to provide the best bespoke treatment for you.

Footscan uses advanced technology to measure the pressure and force distribution on your feet, your gait, and how you stand. The data is incredibly accurate, giving us a strong and detailed picture of what is happening beneath your feet.

If the data from your Footscan suggests that you need insoles to relieve your pain or other symptoms, these are designed and 3D printed to meet your exact specifications. We use the Footscan data to ensure bespoke, well-fitting, lightweight and durable Phits orthotics that will optimise your foot function and comfort.

With Footscan, we can capture accurate and detailed data in minutes. You will be asked to walk, run, jump and stand on a special mat, which uses a range of sensors for accurate measurements.

The highly innovative, detailed and accurate nature of the Footscan makes it one of the most reliable and effective ways to show the cause of your pain or other issue, and help us understand how best to treat it. In the unlikely event that nothing is identified with Footscan, we can suggest further areas of investigation. We understand that the worst thing about pain is not knowing the source, so we will do everything possible to help you.
