Heel Pain


Heel pain is the general term given to pain experienced in the back and rear of the foot. Pain felt in this part of the foot, is usually a result of an issue elsewhere within the foot. There are many causes, far too many to list, but the most common are; bursitis, blisters, neuroma, plantar fasciitis, leg length difference, tendon tears or ruptures, muscle inflammation, growing pains, and achilles tendinitis.


Pain in the heel, which does not reduce with movement or massage. The pain can severely affect the patients daily mobility, and quality of life. In younger patients, it often results in withdrawal from sporting activities.


By carrying out a Biomechanical Gait Analysis Assessment, your podiatrist may recommend stretching and/or orthotics, as well as provide you with footwear advice.
