Podiatry Station are delighted to share this case study of a 13-year-old boy who presented with discoloured toenails, and after being under the care of our Specialist Podiatrist, he has successfully been treated for a fungal nail infection.

The 13-year-old male presented with fungal infections on both his 1st toenails which were damaged from playing football. As they did not cause him any pain, he ignored them hoping his nails will return to normal without intervention. However, during the summer months the patient was embarrassed to participate in activities where his feet will be on show.

Before
After

After booking a consultation at Podiatry Station, a 5-minute fungal nail test was carried out, the results of which came back positive. The test also confirmed the type of fungus that was present. After a deep cut and clean of the nails, the patient was given topical medication to apply daily. Our Podiatrist continued to see him every month for fungal nail maintenance, and after only 4-months we are ecstatic with the successful outcome of this patient’s treatment.

There has been significant improvement within the nails. The thickness had disappeared completely, and another 5-minute fungal nail test was carried out, the results of which were negative. The minor black marks that are visible is bruising caused by trauma from playing regular football. Otherwise, the nails have now fully recovered.

If you are embarrassed from your thick discoloured fungal toenails, then book your consultation as Podiatry Station to discuss treatment options now.  You do not need to be embarrassed and hide your feet. We treat our patients with the utmost care and can help you to kickstart your path to a successful treatment today!
