What is Verrutop?

Verrutop is a topical solution which has been formulated with Nitrizinc Complex, a solution containing nitric acid, organic acid, zinc, and copper salts. Verrutop works by denaturing the wart proteins through a caustic effect. The solution is applied directly over the verruca. The patient is then required to apply surgical spirit twice a day to aid the dehydration process.

The diagram below demonstrates the cellular changes that happen when
Verrutop has been applied to the skin.

What does Verrutop treatment involve?

Initially, we assess your verruca or wart and let you know whether Verrutop treatment will be a suitable option for removing it. We also ask you a little about your general health and medical history.

We prepare your verruca for treatment by removing any hard skin that may be surrounding it. We then apply the Verrutop solution to your verruca and ensure it dries effectively. This process may need to be repeated in a number of follow-up appointments, but we will discuss this with you.

Frequently asked questions

Reports show that 90% of patients had complete clearance of their verrucas after six sessions. To be assessed for Verrutop treatment, please contact us to book an appointment now.

Verrutop treatment is not painful. Some people may feel a slight stinging or faint burning sensation in the treated area, but this does not last long before subsiding.

Most people require 3-6 sessions and each session is carried out every 1-2 weeks to eradicate the verruca.

You can tell the verruca is dying as it starts to change colour. When it’s dead, it will look black as the blood supply has been cut off from the area.
