High standards of treatment at every appointment

There is no such thing as a simple nail cut at Podiatry Station! You will see a qualified foot specialist who has a duty of care to carry out a full assessment within each appointment. Often this is a visual inspection, and our highly trained and experienced professional podiatrists have an eye for spotting any underlying issues that you may not even be aware of.

Routine Nail Care

What does routine nail care involve?

We begin your treatment by asking for your full medical history, including any health conditions, medications and any other ongoing mental or physical problems you may have. If you are on certain blood thinning medications or are undergoing cancer treatment, these conditions can put you at a greater risk of catching an infection. Your podiatrist can make you aware of things you can do to prevent certain problems from occurring.

As part of our nail care routine, your toenails are trimmed and filed and the sulci (sides) checked and cleared. The soles of your feet are also checked for any other problems that may need our attention. We complete your treatment by hydrating your skin with our specialist foot balm.

What are some tips for maintaining healthy nails?

To maintain healthy nails, it’s essential to keep them clean, moisturised, and protected. Avoid using fingernails as tools to prevent breakage and damage. Additionally, a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals, such as biotin, can contribute to overall nail health. If you notice any changes in your nails, such as discoloration, thickening, or persistent issues, please get in touch with us for an appointment and advice.

Frequently asked questions

Nail care is an ongoing requirement, keeping your feet healthy and able to function correctly. You should see your podiatrist for routine nail care every 6-8 weeks to make sure your feet remain problem-free.

As nail care is an ongoing requirement, we offer a reduced price for regular clinic visits. Please view our prices page for more details or call us to find out more.

It is generally recommended to trim your nails every 2-3 weeks. However, the frequency may vary depending on personal preference, the rate of nail growth, and individual nail care needs. Regular trimming helps prevent issues such as ingrown nails and maintains overall nail health.

To prevent damage, it’s advisable to trim nails straight across and then round the tips in a gentle curve. Use sharp, clean nail scissors or clippers to avoid splintering or causing micro-tears in the nails. It’s also important not to cut too close to the surrounding skin to avoid ingrown nails. We can cut your nails correctly for you as part of our routine nail care appointment.
